TORRES HEATING UP.

Somebody's heating up! Fernando Torres of Liverpool FC brightened Liverpool's day by scoring the one and only goal against Inter Milan, which netted them a win in the second leg of the UEFA Champion's league and sent them to the quarter finals against Arsenal FC.

The game started with consecutive attacks from both teams, where on the early minutes, Torres almost scored a goal. There were also on-target shots from the players from San Siro but the Reds' Jose Reina was consistent in his goal keeping. A couple of cards were given out to both sides which led to the sending out of Inter Milan defender Nicolas Burdisso.

At the 63' minute, Fernando Torres converted and sealed the deal.

Great Comeback! : Arsenal FC v Bolton Wanderers

Up to the 61st minute, Arsenal was experiencing a goal-drought against the Bolton Wanderers. Bolton's attacker Matthew Taylor scored two goals, against the Gunners, on the 14' and 43' minute. Having done this, the Wanderer had their way towards a win cleared and straightened out. It was smooth sailing from there on out. Diaby's red card on the 32' really devastated Arsenal's play and left them one man short. Fabregas received a yellow card on the 43' minute. Next in the line of card holders were Arsenal's Toure and Bolton's Davies. Then another for Bolton. Things were not looking so good for the Gunners. But let's not forget that a single goal can happen in less then a second. On the 62', William Gallas delivered a nicely put goal, then followed by Robin van Persie four minutes later. With this, the game was tied. Anyone had the even chance to win the game. What was going to be measured was the teams' drive and composure in the last 20 or so minutes. Then something unexpected happened. Bolton experienced a MAJOR lapse. Bolton's Samuel committed an own goal which gave the Gunners the win. That was a very poor last minute performance by Samuel and it costed them a game. Arsenal FC won with a man short and a 2 goal disadvantage.

ROMA FC vs MANCHESTER UNITED: Who's up for the win?

Seeing this match in the upcoming fixtures in UEFA.com made me feel very excited. Not only will we see a high-quality game but we will also see fierce competition and hopefully, fiercer determination from both sides. In the past few games of Man Untd and AS Roma, it was seen that the Red Devils dominated the action in the pitch. One game was last April 10, 07, when ManU defeated AS Roma, two to one. Cristiano Ronaldo's attacks were enough to render their opponents helpless to the seemingly unending wave of attacks. Another one was on October 2, 2007, when Wayne Rooney scored the only goal of the game, making the Red Devils the winners.

The question is: who's got the greater desire for the win? We all know that both teams want to win. But will certain factors increase or hinder their drive for the win?

In AC Roma's case, I am kind of sure that they would try to take this opportunity to "get back" at the Reds for their defeats in the past few games. although even with this drive, they still run the risk of being intimidated by the excellent players of ManU, Ronaldo, Rooney, Scholes, etc., and hide back underneath their stone.

In Manchester United's case, it is true that they have overcome their opponents quite a number of times already. Although not really winning convincingly, I'm sure that they have sent a message across the pitch: that they won't be giving less than a hundred percent in every game. Will this be enough to make them advance in the next matchday with flying colors? Of course, they run the risk of being too over confident since they have won their past matches.

Who will win? My bet is on the Reds.

What's yours?

Having a set is like having a couple of boots in one. One can replace the studs, the chassis and the top. 2) Adidas Preda
tor Powerswerve
Next in line in Adidas' arsenal of boots is the newly improved Predator, Powerswerve.Of course, everyone knew what the Predator series were. Famous players, Beckham, Zidane, Ballack, etc., showcases this line frequently in their matches. But what is new with this boot? Adidas claims that it increases the curve of the shot by 8%. It also increases the power by 3%. This boot also raised alarms when it was first released here. Even before the release date, fans and players alike already knew about it and what it can benefit them.

"Predator PowerSwerve TRX FG

3) Nike total 90 Lasers

When this boot is mentioned, two things come to mind: the sweet spot - "Precision rings", and Wayne Rooney.
Nike aimed to present a boot that gave the players the capability to put the ball where they want it. This was the reason behind the PRs. What mainly intrigued the players and fans here in the Philippines were the rings. Although the boot has yet be played by the majority since the market and the viewers in the Philippines alike looked towards the Powerswerves and the soon-to-be-released-in-the-Philippines +f50.8s. However, new productions of this boot might improve the sales and might even set up the bar for power boots in the Philippines.

The newest update of this line is the Nike T90 Laser 2. This might possibly give Adidas, Philippines a run for their money.

"The Nike Total 90 Laser is the new boot choice of England and Manchester United's Wayne Roone
y, creating a revolutionary enhancement of the Total 90 series.

Applying the learning from sports like golf or tennis, the expanded Sweet Spot on the Nike Total 90 Laser allows the athlete to maximise shooting and passing accuracy through better boot to ball alignment and targeting.

Unique precision rings create optimum trajectrory, spin and distance control. Twisted medial rings provide more agggressive contact, enhancing ball spin and swerve opp
ortunities.

The highest density material (3 times harder than a synthetic upper) is aligned with the hardest part of the foot for improved accuracy and distance. The precision rings are sectioned to help the player keep the ball down when shooting at goal. Rings also add more aggressive contact to the ball, allowing the player to add height and swerve to the ball as desired.

Waterproof eVent Fabric also lets sweat escape, mainta
ining a constant temperature inside the boot while playing. "

Last but not the least,
4) Nike Mercurial Vapor SL and the Nike Mercurial SL Carbon

This particular line is yet to be released here in the Philippines but it gave rise to commotions all around the world when its biggest endorser, Cristiano Ronaldo, raced a Bugatti Veyron, the world's fastest accelerating car, and actually won it. Watch the here. The lace covers are a new addition to what the mercs usually had. It was included to provide better touch and so that the players wouldn't need to think about the laces, just like what happened with the Tunits, the Ronaldinhos and other boots in other brands. Although like before, it was designed to give the users the capability to achieve their top speed in seconds. Combined with speedy and powerful players, this boot can give an edge in scoring opportunities. The carbon issue is a limited issue in commemoration of the 10th year of Nike Mercurial

"Nike Mercurial Vapor SL Firm Ground Sport Red/Gold Football Boots

e World's deadliest players, every contour and feature has been engineered to the highest Aerodynamic specifications.

My UEFA Fantasy Football Team

This is my UEFA Fantasy Football Team.
Strikers:
1) Drogba - Just coz he's an excellent striker.
2) Torres - I think he plays a bit like C. Ronaldo, but with less speed and tricks.
3) Henry - I think he's a striker that really knows what he's doing. He's got finesse and strength
in him and that makes him a great striker.
Mid-Fields:
4) Gerard - He's a player who's blessed with strength in shot, and timing in his passes and
play-making.
5) Cristiano Ronaldo - There isn't much to say bout him, just that he's really really good.
6) Fabregas - A rising star. He's going to be much more better in the next few years.
7) Joe Cole - He's a strong player that plays for the team. He also has nice crosses.

HOT FIXTURES last March 23, 08

Last, March 23, 08, the biggest clubs in the English Premiere League clashed heads. The fixtures were Manchester United vs Livepool FC and Arsenal FC vs Chelsea FC. From the moment the fixtures were announced, I heard a lot of commotion here in the Philippines since these were the most favorite clubs in the Barclays League. My personal bets were ManU and Chelsea.

I) MANCHESTER UNITED vs LIVERPOOL FC
Manchester United, a club consisting of hard-working talented players suchg as Cristiano Ronaldo, the highest scorer this season, Wayne Rooney, Scholes, Ferdinand, etc, was a favorite for me. Among the clubs in the English Premiere League, this club was the most appealling. This year, one of the big wins of ManU was against Arsenal FC, where they beat them, through the efforts of Nani, and the others, even when C. Ronaldo wasn't playing. Even though I knew that whenever Ronaldo or Rooney received the ball, something sweet was going to happen. No doubt, they are one of the best teams in this league. These fueled my liking for Manchester United.

Even though there were these factors, we still can't disregard the fact that Liverpool FC also had amazing players such as Fernando Torres, Steven Gerard, Crouch, Kuyt, and Carragher. Gerard, a crowd favorite, is known for his stunning long-shots and pin-point passes. This, in combination with Torres, or the other strikers, can be quite deadly.

Every time these two clubs faced each other, even since 1983, they showed great sportsmanship and creativity that only the top clubs could show. Their games were very fast-paced in terms of scoring opportunities, plays, and possession skills. It's no wonder people flock to the stadiums just to see them play.

This particular match didn't go well for the Reds, with a final score of 3-0, favoring ManU. Everyone expected a better game from them. Manchester United showed that they deserved the win through showing fierce determination and skill. Liverpool needs to step up and not let things like this happen again.

II) CHELSEA FC vs ARSENAL FC

This was a match that made fans think about certain things about their clubs. For one thing, even though Chelsea FC had a roster full of superstars, would they be able to keep it together and not try to step over each other in search for the spotlight? Or would Arsenal, a team full uf you players, be able to stop the Blues' no-lose streak at Stamford Bridge? Those were some of the questions that came to my mind when i was setting a bet with my brother.
My personal bet was Chelsea FC. Not only did they have amazing strikers at the top, they also had a wide array of top-class performers in the mid and in the bottom third. Lampard, Terry, and the others were a serious threat to the Gunners. I was also very confident in Terry's ability to hold the team together, as well as his defensive line. I was confident that Didier Drogba would convert whenever he was served top-quality settings. So the outcome of the match, 2-1, in favor of Chelsea, was of no surprise to me.

Even though these were the turn outs, the teams still showed the viewers what English Football is all about.
